When we talk about hemorrhoids, we generally need to know the types of hemorrhoids that are usually there. Before we get into that, however, hemorrhoids are actually swollen veins found in the rectal and anal areas of the body. Typically, these veins swell because excessive pressure on them causes the venous walls to expand and blood to enter to fill the enlarged space. Inflammation also occurs on the walls of these veins.

Hemorrhoids can be external by finding the swollen veins outside the anus. In internal hemorrhoids, the veins are found in the lower part of the rectum, which are not visible from outside the anus. Internal hemorrhoids as such are not painful. The indication of internal hemorrhoids for those affected would be the appearance of bright red blood in the stool. Then there is increased inflammation and the hemorrhoids protrude from the anus. This is called prolapsed hemorrhoids. Only then will the hemorrhoids become very painful.

Since hemorrhoids are not a serious disease, there are many ways to treat or overcome them. The best methods include the use of home remedies, which include:

  1. Using an astringent such as witch hazel, which has been shown to be very effective in curing hemorrhoids.
  2. The improved diet of the person consists of many fibers which are freely available in fruits and vegetables. The fiber prevents constipation or diarrhea, and the stools are very even.
  3. Exercise helps prevent constipation. Try to exercise at least three times a week. This habit prevents you from leading a sedentary life which is harmful to your health.
  4. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. This will have a major impact on the stool.
  5. Use the butcher’s broom, which is a very good astringent. This ingredient constricts swollen blood vessels. It also has the ability to shrink and treat the inflamed cells in the vessels.

Prolonged hemorrhoids can be easily treated with the above home remedies, and there are other more effective remedies that get rid of hemorrhoids completely.
