- The bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) normally live in the intestines of healthy people and animals. Most types of E. coli are harmless or cause diarrhea for a relatively short period of time. Signs and symptoms of E. coli O157: H7 infection usually begin three to four days after exposure to the bacteria. However, you can get sick as early as a day after exposure for more than a week. Signs and symptoms are:
- Diarrhea, which can range from mild and watery to severe and bloody

- Nausea and vomiting in some people
The reasons

Risk factors
