Claudication
Open the Claudication popup dialog
Lameness is a pain caused by insufficient blood supply to the muscles during exercise. Most of the time, these leg pain appear after a certain speed and for a while – depending on the severity of the disease.
- The condition is also known as intermittent claudication because the pain is usually not constant. It starts during exercise and ends with rest. However, if the claudication worsens, pain may occur at rest.
- Lameness is technically a symptom of a disease, most commonly peripheral artery disease, a narrowing of the arteries in the limbs that restricts blood flow.
- Treatments aim to reduce the risk of vascular disease, relieve pain, increase mobility, and prevent tissue damage.Claudication Treatment Hyderabad

Lameness is most often a symptom of peripheral artery disease. Peripheral arteries are the large vessels that carry blood to the network of vessels in your legs and arms.Claudication Treatment Hyderabad
- Peripheral artery disease is damage to an artery that restricts blood flow in an arm or leg (limb). When you are at rest, the limited blood flow is usually still adequate. However, when you’re active, muscles don’t get enough oxygen and nutrients to function well and stay healthy.
- Damage to peripheral arteries is usually caused by atherosclerosis. This is the accumulation of cholesterol and other fats, blood cells, and other cell debris in abnormal structures (plaques) on the lining of an artery.
- The plaques cause the artery to narrow and stiffen, which restricts blood flow. When the plaques burst, a blood clot can form, further reducing blood flow.
