overview
A vaginal yeast infection is a fungal infection that causes irritation, discharge, and severe itching of the vagina and vulva – the tissues around the vaginal opening.
- Vaginal yeast infection is also known as vaginal candidiasis and affects up to 3 in 4 women at some point in their life. Many women have two or more episodes.
- A vaginal yeast infection is not considered a sexually transmitted infection. However, there is an increased risk of vaginal yeast infection at the time of first regular sexual activity. There is also evidence that infections may be related to oral and genital contact (oral and genital sex).
- Medicines can effectively treat yeast infections. If you have recurring yeast infections – four or more per year – you may need longer treatment and a maintenance schedule.Yeast infection (vaginal) Treatment Hyderabad

The reasons
Your vagina naturally contains a balanced mix of yeast, including candida and bacteria. Certain bacteria (lactobacilli) prevent yeast from overgrowing.
- But this balance can be disturbed. Candida overgrowth or penetration of the fungus into the deeper layers of the vaginal cells causes the signs and symptoms of a yeast infection.
- Yeast growth can result from:
- Use of antibiotics that cause an imbalance in the natural vaginal flora
pregnancy
Uncontrolled diabetes
A weakened immune system
Take birth control pills or hormone therapy that increases estrogen levels
Risk factors
Factors that increase your risk of developing a yeast infection include:Yeast infection (vaginal) Treatment Hyderabad
- Use of antibiotics. Yeast infections are common in women who take antibiotics. Broad spectrum antibiotics, which kill a number of bacteria, also kill the healthy bacteria in your vagina, causing the yeast to overgrow.
- Elevated levels of estrogen. Yeast infections are more common in women with higher levels of estrogen – for example, pregnant women or women taking high-dose oral contraceptives or estrogen hormone therapy.
- Uncontrolled diabetes. Women with poorly controlled blood sugar are at higher risk of yeast infections than women with well-controlled blood sugar.
- Weakened immune system: Women with weakened immunity – for example, after corticosteroid therapy or HIV infection – are more likely to get yeast infections.
prevention
Wear underwear that has a cotton crotch and is not too tight to reduce the risk of vaginal yeast infections.
It can also help prevent:
- Tight tights
- Douching, which removes some of the normal bacteria in the vagina that are protecting you from infection
- Scented feminine products, including bubble bath, sanitary napkins, and tampons
- Very hot spas and baths
- Use of unnecessary antibiotics, e.g. B. with colds or other viral infections.Yeast infection (vaginal) Treatment Hyderabad
