What Happens on a FUE Hair Transplant Day?

Preparing for a hair transplant

Once the photos are taken, a final consultation will be conducted with the plastic surgery specialist who will perform the operation. Previous discussions are being reviewed and a hair transplant is planned.

Planning before hair transplant

During the planning process, the doctor then checks the number of hair follicles to be extracted, the number of hair rods in the follicles and the thickness of the rods. The location and density of the graft as well as the orientation of the hair rods are determined taking into account the expectations of the patients. The compatibility of the specialist’s suggestions with the expectations of the individual is crucial in this phase. Being realistic about what we can achieve and meeting the patient’s expectations is the essence of a successful hair transplant.

Plan the hairline

A successful hair transplant requires a natural result that is not apparent to those associated with the person being operated on. And the hairline should be planned very carefully to achieve a natural looking hair transplant result.

The patient’s expectations and suggestions should be mentioned when planning the hairline. However, planning should be done based on the person’s current condition, taking into account the patient’s forehead structure and facial symmetry without fully focusing on the patient’s previous condition. The hairline is determined by maintaining symmetry using the specially developed laser pointer device.

The hairline is the line where the hairy scalp meets the forehead. The hairline should match other aesthetic elements of the face, should be planned at an appropriate level, and should not be created as a clean straight line. A natural hairline is created as a symmetrical fragmented line with a triangular waveform. The follicles to be used to create the hairline should be the follicles that contain a single, thin hair shaft. While a hairline created by perfectly aligned hair follicles containing thicker hair shafts is visible to everyone after the operation, a wavy root that was planned with a slight mess and created with follicles containing a single hair shaft is even for the immediate knowledge of the unrecognizable person after the operation.

Take the first step to the right: is it possible to correct a poorly created hairline?

A significant proportion of the patients who come to us for a hair transplant are those patients who are not satisfied with the results of the hair transplant they have performed in other clinics. The hair result of a hair transplant performed by an unqualified person can be irreparable. Correcting the inaccurate hairline is the most difficult aspect that we come across with such additional corrective surgery. In these patients, corrective surgery can be performed by harvesting excessively thick hair follicles and inserting grafts with a single hair shaft.

No one wants it to be obvious that they have had a hair transplant. To achieve a natural result, the hairline should be planned by a plastic surgeon specializing in this field, who has extensive knowledge of facial aesthetics and facial relationships, and has performed an appropriate number of hair transplants to understand the patient expectations.

Haircut

Once everything has been planned out and decisions about the procedure have been made, the patient is ready for the operation. The person who will undergo the hair transplant will receive a grade 1 haircut. No haircut is required before this step.

If a small amount of hair is transplanted, FUE hair transplant can be done by shaving thin strips of hair without a full cut. This way, the person undergoing hair transplant can quickly get on with their social life without changing their appearance.

Local anesthesia

After the haircut, a specially prepared local anesthetic mixture is administered to perform a painless hair transplant that does not injure the patient or cause bleeding.
