- The tongue clip is an unusually short, thick, or narrow band of tissue (lingual frenulum) that attaches the underside of the tip of the tongue to the floor of the mouth, which can affect breastfeeding. A person who has a tongue connection may have difficulty sticking their tongue out. The tongue and tie can also affect the way a child eats, speaks, and swallows.
- Sometimes attaching it to the tongue may not cause any problems. In some cases, a simple surgery may be required to correct it.
