Subconjunctival bleeding (sub-kun-JUNK-tih-vul HEM-uh-ruj) occurs when a small blood vessel breaks just below the clear surface of your eye (conjunctiva). The conjunctiva cannot absorb blood very quickly, so the blood is trapped. You may not realize you have subconjunctival bleeding until you look at yourself in the mirror and notice that the white part of your eye is bright red.
Subconjunctival bleeding often occurs with no apparent damage to your eye. Even a heavy sneeze or cough can cause a blood vessel in the eye to tear. You don’t have to process it. You may be concerned about your symptoms. But subconjunctival bleeding is usually a harmless condition that goes away in about two weeks. The most obvious sign of subconjunctival bleeding is a bright red spot on the white (sclera) of your eye.

The reasons
The cause of subconjunctival hemorrhage is not always known. The following actions can cause a small blood vessel to rupture in your eye:

- Powerful sneezing
- Tender
- Vomit
