My own experience with gynecomastia

A long time ago, when I was a teenager, I had an illness that really destroyed my self-esteem and kept me from undressing in front of others for years. Now I realize how stupid it was, but then it was really difficult for me to cope with, and I’m not talking about the condition itself because it was neither dangerous nor painful, but its social consequences. Then I wanted to learn that it is called gynecomastia and that it is very common in people at puberty. More than 60% of adolescents would suffer from gynecomastia. The most disturbing symptom is an enlarged breast, which makes your chest look like that of a girl.

It is not only a nightmare for a teenager, but also for people who turn into adults. However, adults who eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly are unlikely to be affected by gynecomastia. If you are now 30 like me and you are not overweight and your hormone levels are correct, you need not worry. While these are the two main causes of gynecomastia in adults, there are several others, including marijuana and alcohol abuse. Less common, but still very popular, reasons may also be certain medications, such as the popular hair loss treatments – Proscar and Propecia – that cause hormonal fluctuations and, therefore, can cause gynecomastia.

There is also a second age group very sensitive to gynecomastia, and these are people who reach their fifties. At this age, it is very likely that the human body is suffering from a hormonal imbalance – your testosterone levels drop and you are prone to an enlarged breast.

Gynecomastia can be very easy and quick to treat – if you really want to get rid of your enlarged breasts immediately, you can have an operation, which usually takes about two hours and after which you get a flat chest. In most cases, you do not need a hospital stay, which means that you are free after surgery. Unfortunately, the cost is quite high – around, and most health insurance companies don’t cover the cost. However, it is the quickest and most effective way to recover your flat man’s chest. Other popular methods of curing gynecomastia are intense cardio workouts that you must do daily. And the results only become visible after a few months.
