The corona virus, the burning problem we are currently facing, causes physical and psychological damage to humans.
The corona virus belongs to a class of viruses which are responsible for many well-known diseases such as SARS, MERS, and now this new strain causes COVID-19 respiratory diseases which have not been identified before and are known to have infected humans.
The most common symptoms of the infection are cough, fever, and breathing problems that cause breathing difficulties. In severe cases, pneumonia, kidney failure and even death can occur.
What preventive measures can we take to protect ourselves:
Here are some security tips to keep in mind to protect yourself from this virus:
Everyone is recommended to wear a mask when going out or coming into direct contact with an infected or suspected infected person. However, it is not absolutely necessary to always wear a mask, but when you are near infected masks.
Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze to prevent droplets of infection from being passed from person to person as this virus spreads through droplets of air. Also make sure that other people follow the same protocol when you sneeze, and it’s best to stay away from people suspected of being infected.
Avoid public gatherings as this can cause you to deal with people of all kinds who can be infected with the virus and pass it on to you.
Do not shake hands with people as they could pass the virus on to you. We Indians are fortunate to have a traditional form of addressing, namely greeting with Namaste, which does not involve direct contact between two people and is the best way to use it in the context of current situation.
Preventative methods include maintaining our diet and including foods rich in properties that have been shown to have antiviral properties, the ability to kill viruses, or naturally boost our immune system. Some examples of these foods are fruits rich in vitamin C such as oranges, amla and lemons, which are known to increase our immunity. Eat almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds and start consuming the herb as well, which is no less than a blessing for everyone, especially Indians, according to Tulsi.
Also, get into the habit of washing your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, as this is the only way to kill any germs that may be on the surface of your hands. And remember not to touch your mouth, nose and eyes with your hands without washing them properly with soap.
Use a disinfectant when washing with soap and water is not possible. Disinfectants are only an alternative and not a substitute for soap and water.
