Millions of people find that they have a hernia every year in the US alone, as it is a common condition that can affect anyone of any age. A hernia is not a serious illness, but if it is not treated it can lead to serious complications and pain.

An inguinal hernia occurs when part of an organ protrudes through the muscle fiber, which is responsible for holding that organ in place. This usually happens because of a weakness that occurs in the muscles around the organ, causing them to tear and let some of them come out through the small opening created. This protruding part of the organ creates a prominent bulge that is normally visible.

An inguinal hernia can occur in various places on the body, but the most common place where it occurs is the abdomen. An opening appears in the muscles of the abdominal wall and part of the abdomen slides into it. The bulge created by the abdomen can be seen and is more pronounced when the patient coughs or sneezes and the abdominal pressure increases. This type of hernia is called a hiatal hernia.

Other common types of hernias are:

  • Umbilical hernia, which occurs in small babies and occurs when the navel does not close properly after birth and the contents of the abdomen slide through the opening
  • Inguinal hernia, consequence of the protrusion of the intestine from the groin
-Femoral hernia that occurs in the thigh
  • Incisional hernia, which can occur after surgery where the scar has not been closed properly.

The causes of the hernia are muscle weakness. These can occur due to age or if the muscles are worn out after many sports activities. Those who exercise a lot, especially football and tennis, often suffer from a disease called a sports hernia. Sports hernias are similar to hiatal hernias, but in sports hernias the lower abdomen protrudes through the tear and in hiatal hernias the upper abdomen.

Symptoms of the hernia include the appearance of the bulge in the affected area and slight pain in this area. Many people can live with these symptoms and therefore choose not to treat their hernia. However, this can worsen and lead to complications. Therefore, it is best to see your doctor and advise you to treat him. , do it quickly. . Hernia can be treated with a simple operation, so it is better to do it and fix the problem and then suffer for a long time.
