Hair loss is something anyone could worry about. It not only reduces the hair on your head, but also decreases self-confidence and leads to depression.

So what should you do to stop this hair loss and restore your hair growth?

There are many options like medications, topical creams, oils, PRP, mesotherapy, and hair transplants. However, what you would need depends on your condition.

For example, if you are facing hair loss due to a change of seasons, it is a temporary phase. Proper hair care and medicated oils or creams can help. You can even see a doctor and take medications that can replenish your system with the right nutrients needed for hair growth. In a few weeks, your hair loss will stop and fresh hair will grow.

With extreme hair loss, these oils, topical creams, and medications may not work as effectively. You may need to go for non-surgical hair loss treatments like mesotherapy and PRP. These aim to provide your scalp with essential nutrients that can help minimize hair loss and stimulate hair regrowth. Even so, it may not work if you have bald spots on your head.

Androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness is difficult to treat with hair loss treatments, medications, oils, and creams. In fact, most might even believe that only a miracle can help them grow hair on their bald areas. Nevertheless, these miracles are performed every day in many cosmetic clinics around the world.

Advances in technology have introduced minimally invasive hair transplant procedures such as FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), which work wonders for people who want to get rid of their baldness.

How do hair transplant procedures work?

These are minimally invasive procedures in which healthy hair follicles on the back of the head are transplanted to the areas to be treated. Hair transplant works effectively for hair loss in both men and women. However, the criterion is that there must be healthy growth of hair on the back of the head. The thicker this growth, the better the results.

To understand these procedures, it is important to understand the two main hair transplant methods: FUE and FUT

FUE:

Follicular Unit Extraction or FUE is a procedure in which hair follicles are individually extracted from the back of the head, prepared under a high performance microscope and individually transplanted to the area to be treated. After applying an anesthetic cream or local anesthetic, tiny incisions are made in the donor and recipient area to remove any pain or discomfort. Since there are no injuries or scars here, you can recover faster. Eyebrow hair restoration, mustache grafts, eyelash grafts as well as leg and goat grafts can be done very well via FUE as the number of grafts required would be lower.

FUT:

FUT or follicular unit transplantation is a procedure in which a long, thin strip of tissue is removed from the back of the head. These tissues are placed in a maintenance solution until the grafts are performed using a high performance microscope. The grafts are made in units of 1, 2, 3 and 4 and transplanted in the same way to achieve fullness. Unlike FUE, FUT is a faster procedure that can transplant thousands of grafts in a single session. Hence, it works great for scalp and beard transplants.

Many have had positive results from hair transplantation. You can certainly be a part of it. However, you need to make sure that you follow the hair transplant expert’s instructions carefully and, if necessary, attend multiple sessions to achieve the lasting results you want.
