overview
Drop foot, sometimes called a drop foot, is a general term for having difficulty lifting the front of the foot. If you have a foot drop, the front of your foot can slide on the floor as you walk.
Drop foot is not a disease. Rather, foot drops are a sign of an underlying neurological, muscular, or anatomical problem.
Sometimes the foot drop is temporary, but it can be permanent. If you have a foot drop, you may need to wear an ankle and footrest to keep your foot in a normal position. Foot drop Treatment in Hyderabad
symptoms
The falling of the foot makes it difficult to lift the front of your foot so that it can drag on the floor as you walk. This can cause you to raise your thigh as you walk like you are climbing stairs (jogging) to help your foot clear the floor. This unusual gait can cause you to hit your foot on the floor with every step. In some cases, the skin on the feet and toes is numb.
The reasons
Foot drops are caused by weakness or paralysis of the muscles involved in lifting the front of the foot. Causes of the foot drop can be:
- Nerve injury. The most common cause of foot drops is compression of a nerve in the leg that controls the muscles that help lift the foot (the peroneal nerve).
- This nerve can also be injured during hip or knee replacement surgery, which can cause the foot to fall.
- Damage to the nerve root – “pinched nerve” – ββin the spine can also cause the foot to fall. People with diabetes are more prone to the nervous disorders associated with foot drops.
Risk factors
The peroneal nerve controls the muscles that lift your foot. This nerve runs near the surface of the skin on the side of your knee that is closest to your hand. Activities that compress this nerve can increase your risk of foot drop. Examples include:
Cross your legs. People who normally cross their legs can compress the peroneal nerve on the thigh.
Kneel long. Jobs that require you to squat or kneel for a long time, e.g. B. Picking strawberries or laying floor tiles can lead to a drop in feet. Foot drop Treatment in Hyderabad
