overview

  • Edema is swelling caused by excess fluid trapped in the tissues of your body. Although edema can affect any part of your body, you may notice it more in your hands, arms, feet, ankles, and legs.
  • Edema can be the result of drug therapy, pregnancy, or an underlying disease – often heart failure, kidney disease, or cirrhosis of the liver.
  • Taking medications to remove excess fluid and reduce the amount of salt in your food often relieves edema. If edema is a sign of an underlying disease, then the disease itself must be treated separately. Edema Treatment in Hyderabad

The reasons

Edema occurs when tiny blood vessels in your body (capillaries) leak fluid. The fluid collects in the surrounding tissue and causes swelling.

Mild edema cases can have the following causes:

  • Sitting or staying in the same position for too long
    Eating too much salty food
    Have premenstrual signs and symptoms
    To be pregnant
Edema can also be a side effect of certain medications, including:
  • Medicines for high blood pressure
    Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
    Steroid drugs
    estrogen

Risk factors

When you are pregnant, your body retains more sodium and water than usual because of the fluids needed for the fetus and placenta. This can increase the risk of edema.

Your risk of edema may be increased if you take certain medications, including:

  • Medicines for high blood pressure
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Steroid drugs
  • estrogen
  • Certain diabetes drugs are called thiazolidinediones. Edema Treatment in Hyderabad
