overview
Dumping syndrome is a condition that can develop after surgery to remove all or part of your stomach, or after surgery to bypass your stomach and help you lose weight. The condition can also develop in people who have had esophageal surgery. Dumping syndrome is also known as rapid gastric emptying and occurs when food, especially sugar, gets from the stomach to the small intestine too quickly.
Most people with dumping syndrome develop signs and symptoms such as stomach cramps and diarrhea 10 to 30 minutes after eating. Other people have symptoms one to three hours after they eat, and still others have early and late symptoms.
In general, changing your diet after surgery can help prevent dumping syndrome. The changes could include smaller meals and limiting sugary foods. In more severe cases of dumping syndrome, you may need medication or surgery. Dumping syndrome Treatment in Hyderabad

In dumping syndrome, food and gastric juices from your stomach get into your small intestine uncontrollably and unusually quickly. This is most often associated with changes in the stomach associated with surgery.
Dumping syndrome can occur after gastric surgery or major esophageal surgery, such as removal of the esophagus (esophagectomy). Dumping syndrome Treatment in Hyderabad
Risk factors
- Gastric bypass surgery

- Surgery that ages your stomach can increase your risk of dumping syndrome. These surgeries are most commonly done to treat obesity, but are also part of treating stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, and other conditions. These operations include:
- Gastrectomy, which involves removing part or all of the stomach.
- Gastric bypass surgery (Operation Roux-en-Y) to treat morbid obesity. This surgically creates a stomach pouch that is smaller than your stomach, which means you can’t eat as much as you used to. It connects the small intestine to this pocket in the form of a gastrojejunostomy.
- Esophagectomy, which involves removing all or part of the tube between your mouth and stomach. Dumping syndrome Treatment in Hyderabad
