  • Croup is an upper respiratory infection that makes breathing difficult and causes a characteristic barking cough.
  • Cough and other signs and symptoms of croup are the result of swelling around the speech box (larynx), windpipe (windpipe), and bronchi (bronchi). When a cough pushes air through this narrow passage, the swollen vocal cords create a sound similar to seal bark. Breathing also often produces high-pitched wheezing (stridor).
  • Croup usually occurs in young children. Croup is usually not serious and most children can be treated at home. Croup Treatment in Hyderabad

The reasons

Croup is usually caused by a viral infection, most commonly a parainfluenza virus.

Your child can become infected with a virus by breathing in infected respiratory droplets, coughing, or sneezing in the air. Virus particles present in these droplets can also survive on toys and other surfaces. If your child touches a contaminated surface and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth, infection can follow.

Risk factors

Children with the highest risk of croup are children aged 6 months to 3 years. Because children have small airways, they are more likely to have more symptoms with croup.

prevention

Follow the same steps to prevent colds and flu to avoid croup.

Frequent hand washing is most important.
Keep your child away from anyone who is sick.
Encourage your child to cough or sneeze into their elbows. Croup Treatment in Hyderabad
