Cervicitis is inflammation of the cervix, the lower, narrow end of the uterus that opens into the vagina.
- Symptoms of cervicitis include bleeding between periods, pain during sex or during a pelvic exam, and abnormal vaginal discharge. However, it is also possible to have cervicitis and not experience any signs or symptoms.
- Cervicitis often results from a sexually transmitted infection such as chlamydia or gonorrhea. Cervicitis can also develop for non-infectious reasons. Successful treatment for cervicitis involves treating the underlying cause of the inflammation.Cervicitis Treatment Hyderabad

In most cases, cervicitis won’t cause any signs or symptoms, and you may not find that you have the disease for any other reason after a pelvic exam done by your doctor. If you have signs and symptoms, these could include:
- Large amounts of unusual vaginal discharge
- Frequent and painful urination
- Painful intercourse
- Bleeding between periods
- Vaginal bleeding after sex, not associated with a menstrual period.Cervicitis Treatment Hyderabad
The reasons
Possible causes of cervicitis are:
- Sexually transmitted infections. Most commonly, bacterial and viral infections that cause cervicitis are transmitted through sexual contact. Cervicitis can be caused by common sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, and genital herpes.
- Allergic reaction. Allergy to contraceptive spermicides or the latex in condoms can lead to cervicitis. A reaction to feminine hygiene products such as showers or deodorants for women can also cause cervicitis.
- Bacterial growth. Overgrowth of certain bacteria that are normally found in the vagina (bacterial vaginosis) can lead to cervicitis.Cervicitis Treatment Hyderabad
Risk factors
You are at a higher risk of developing cervicitis if you:
- High risk sexual behavior, e.g. For example, unprotected sex, sex with multiple partners, or sex with someone who is behaving at high risk
- Having sex at a young age
- Have a history of sexually transmitted infections
prevention
Use condoms consistently and correctly during every sex to reduce the risk of cervicitis from sexually transmitted infections. Condoms are very effective against the spread of sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and chlamydia, which can lead to cervicitis. A long-term relationship in which you and your uninfected partner agree to only have sex with each other can reduce your chances of developing an STI.Cervicitis Treatment Hyderabad
