Every state of health, whether serious or minor, is surrounded by myths, most of which are stories of old women. There are also several myths associated with varicose veins. This article aims to dispel some of these myths. Look here.

  1. It is more common in women than in men

This is one of the most common myths related to varicose veins. Almost as many men and women develop this venous disease. The reason why it is more common in women is that very few men seek treatment for this condition. They only do this when the condition worsens. Therefore, many cases are not covered.

  1. A long lifespan increases the risk of this venous disease

It is often said that people who have worked long hours have a higher tendency to develop spider veins. This statement is partially correct. A long lifespan does not cause this venous condition, but only accelerates the damage. Varicose veins are guaranteed if the breast pump fails. This is a condition where blood flows from the heart to the leg through the arteries but does not return from the leg to the heart through the veins. The veins consist of small one-way valves that are arranged at intervals. The failure of the leg pump is due to the loss of valves in the leg veins. Leg pump failure not only occurs in the elderly, but also in adolescents and children. It’s just that the damage becomes more visible with age.

  1. Pregnancy is one of the main causes

Pregnancy is often considered one of the causes of varicose veins because a large majority of women have developed this state of reproductive potential. You wouldn’t have this condition before you get pregnant. This myth is similar to the previous one. The flap problem is responsible for the formation of unsightly and discolored veins during pregnancy. Only women who have lost valves in their veins before pregnancy develop this venous disease during pregnancy. There are two other reasons for this. During pregnancy, the body increases its blood production and thus its blood pressure. Not only that, when asked about hormones, the tissue can stretch more than usual, making the veins more visible.

  1. It is a cosmetic problem that may not be resolved.

Varicose veins start as a normal cosmetic problem. In its early days, apart from its unattractive appearance, it doesn’t cause much trouble and is therefore left untreated by many. However, it is not a simple cosmetic problem; The problem is very close. This is an indication of a leg pump failure. If left untreated, it can cause a more serious venous problem called chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).
